How-to make your perfect moulded cake decoration
First of all you will need to look at the size of the mould and take a piece of sugarpaste that you think will be enough to fill the mould.
Once you have the piece of sugarpaste you will need to soften it by kneading it for a short while until it is smooth.
You now need to roll the sugarpaste into a ball and dust with cornstarch.(Don't dust the mould itself or you may lose some detail from the mould)
Press the dusted sugarpaste ball into the mould making sure you push the sugarpaste into all the corners and details of the mould(If the sugarpaste becomes sticky whilst you are pressing it into the mould just dust lightly with more cornstarch).
Once you have filled the mould trim any excess off with a sharp blade or spatula and smooth over with your thumb.
For moulds that are large or have very fine detail you will need to place in the freezer for around 30mins before you de-mould, this will make de-moulding so much easier (Once de-moulded place the finished piece on greaseproof paper to air dry).
It is now time to take the finished piece out of the mould, simply place your thumbs at the top of the mould and your fingers at the bottom, push gently with your thumbs and flex the finished piece out of the silicone mould.
You are now ready to Airbrush or Paint your finished piece.(Don't store your finished pieces in the freezer)
Measurements listed are for pieces made from the moulds and are are approximate to the nearest 1/4 inch. Multi-cavity moulds' measurements are given smallest piece x largest piece x deepest part of the mould.
